What Does a Fire Alarm Inspector Do?

A fire alarm inspector performs the inspection, testing and maintenance (ITM) of fire alarm systems to NFPA 72: functionally testing smoke and heat detectors, pull stations, notification appliances, batteries and panel signals, and documenting deficiencies for the owner and the authority having jurisdiction.

Alarm inspectors work for fire protection service companies and integrators, often holding NICET Fire Alarm or Inspection and Testing certification.
