Here we describe the information FireProtectionHires (fireprotectionhires.com) gathers, what we do with it and the options open to you.
In brief: anyone looking for fire protection work can browse and apply without signing up, and every application goes straight to the employer, so we never see it.
What we do gather comes from employers who buy listings, plus the routine technical data any website needs to operate.
What we gather
- From employers who list a job: whatever you type into the job form, meaning the company name, a contact name and email address, and the listing itself (title, description, location, pay and application link). The listing is shown to the public; your contact details are never displayed on the site.
- Payment details: Stripe handles every payment. Card numbers travel straight to Stripe and never pass through our servers; all we get back is a confirmation that you paid and the receipt details. Stripe explains its own practices in Stripe's privacy policy.
- From people looking for work: only routine technical data. Job seekers have no accounts here. Pressing Apply takes you to the employer's application page, and your resume and other application materials go to that employer, never to us.
- Technical data: as with almost every website, the servers that host us record basic details about each request (IP address, browser type, pages visited) to keep the site secure and running.
- Emails you send us: we hold on to messages you write to us so we can reply and keep a record of what was asked.
What we do with it
- Publishing and maintaining the listings employers pay for.
- Getting in touch with employers about their listings, for receipts, expiry notices, edits and support.
- Running, protecting and improving the site.
- Meeting our legal duties, tax record-keeping included.
Personal information is never sold by us, and we never pass it to outside companies for them to market with.
Cookies and analytics
No advertising trackers run on this site.
We may rely on privacy-minded analytics to see overall site activity, such as page views and referring sites; that data is looked at in aggregate only and never used to build a profile of any one person.
The only cookies in use are the ones the site needs in order to work, Stripe's checkout cookies among them.
Companies that help us run the site
A handful of outside providers keep the site going: Stripe for payments, plus a web host and a database provider.
They handle data solely to deliver their service to us.
Public listings are also passed to search engines (Google Jobs indexing, for example), and that covers only what the listing shows publicly, never the employer's contact details.
How long we keep data
Listing and purchase records from employers are kept for as long as running the service and our legal and tax record-keeping duties require.
A listing that has expired and is no longer shown publicly may still sit in our database.
Whenever you like, you can ask us to erase your information, as explained in the next section.
Your privacy rights
Based on where you live (under the California Consumer Privacy Act or the EU/UK GDPR, for example), you may be entitled to see, fix, erase or get a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit some kinds of processing.
To use any of those rights, write to [email protected] .
We will confirm the request is genuine and answer within whatever time the relevant law sets.
Nobody is treated differently by us for using a privacy right.
Minors
This site is meant for employers and people in the workforce.
We do not aim it at anyone younger than 16, and we never knowingly gather personal information from children in that age group.
