A fire inspector works for the authority having jurisdiction, a fire department, fire marshal's office or building department, inspecting buildings for fire code compliance, witnessing acceptance tests of sprinkler and alarm systems and reviewing fire protection plans.
Fire inspectors, fire prevention officers, deputy fire marshals and fire plans examiners work for cities, counties, states and federal agencies.
